Better ingredients, better pizza

Very very slow connection today, so this will be short. We got up at 5:30am and flew to Guangzhou. David did great on his first plane ride. His ears didn't seem to bother him at all, just the fact that we wanted him to sit in a seat for 90 minutes. We met our new guide Veronica at the airport and took a 40 minute bus ride to the White Swan. It is by far the nicest hotel we've ever stayed in. There is beautiful Chinese artwork everywhere and a garden complete with waterfall in the hotel. After more than a week of Chinese food, we caved and ordered Papa John's for lunch. (Who knew there was a Papa John's in China?) David seemed to enjoy his first pizza. This afternoon we're going to take a walking tour of the area around the hotel with Veronica and then have a group dinner at Lucy's.

I received beautiful flowers for Mothers Day after we got to the hotel. Thanks, Mom and Dad!

More pictures and video to come if we can get a better connection...

Buses make David sleepy.
Hard to tell if the pizza or the remote was more delicious. (Note he had already removed the battery cover and batteries.)

Happy Mother's Day! I'm too lazy to do the math, but it should be coming up within a few hours.

You all look adorable! But I would like to hear some enlightened words from Kevin. Is he too busy to type out a few pithy comments?

So I ransacked the clinic today after-hours when my friends OJ and Anna came to visit with their son Joseph, who was clearly in the yellow zone, and probably in the red. One Albuterol/Atrovent neb later, and he was wicked happy! Except whenever I left the room. See, I am the greatest uncle in the world. Be warned.

I have found lots of recipes for steamed eggs. Here is a link for one with a story to go with it and a Chicago connection -

I thought I would ask Meifang (for everyone, she is a sociology instructor from work) if she has a recipe. If she does and her egg rolls are any indication, it should be a really good recipe!

I am so glad the flowers arrived!

Haley wanted to watch the video of David feeding himself today. I cut her off after about 6 viewings. After she saw it the first time, she looked at me and grinned and said 'What a cutie pie!' Happy Mother's Day! Love, Jennifer

Happy Mother's Day. God Bless the long arm of Papa Johns. Just got back from Sesame Street Live. Maya sat like a little angel on Nicole's lap, Christy and I spent 90 minutes chasing Nick and Gus up and down aisles and stairwells. When Nick sees me at the computer in the am, he starts chanting "Baby David".

A BIG "Thank You " to Sparky ! Grandpa M has been so busy enjoying his grandpaness that he has forgotten to update Kev/Mara/David with the goings on of our sports teams. Sparky's comments reminded me of this responsibility. So briefly.........
....no new signings by either Illinois or Duke
.....Cedrick Benson has not been arrested since last week.
..Cubs/Sox are only 1 game out. (Cubs won again today. Sox play tonight)
....no new coach yet for the Bulls
....I don't have a Gamecocks update, but suspect Uncle Bruce will do so soon.
Happy Sunday !!
